Who we are
Founded in 2022, Pentasweet is a growing biotechnology company with a mission to make everyday sweetness healthier for the people. Our goal is to deliver sweet protein – healthier alternative to sugar and other sweeteners – to the global food and beverage industry.
Pentasweet consists of best-in-class scientists led by a management team with extensive expertise in the biotech, pharmaceutical, and food sectors. With backgrounds in multinational companies, our leadership has a proven track record of delivering complex, high-value CAPEX projects. This collective experience positions us to scale innovation rapidly and drive Pentasweet’s continued growth in sugar replacement industry.
Production & Scale
At Pentasweet, we began with a pilot laboratory focused on one mission: to develop manufacturing processes that allows scaling up to large quantities of fermentation capacity. Building on the success of this foundational work, we have now entered an exciting new phase—the construction of a demonstration-scale production plant scheduled for commissioning in the first half of 2027.
This facility is designed to produce quantities of sweet protein brazzein that would be equivalent to tens of thousands of tons of sugar annually. By the completion of the plant’s second phase, we anticipate achieving production volumes equivalent to Denmark’s total sugar consumption over a two-month period—providing a powerful, sustainable alternative to conventional sugar at scale.
